Thanksgiving is just around the corner. We are partnering again this year with the Rochester Salvation Army to provide local families in need with delicious and bountiful Thanksgiving dinner supplies. However, this year, our part in this endeavor will look a bit different from years past.
The Mission Commission will still have signup sheets for those willing to lend a hand on the days prior to and on the distribution day. They need help in setting up and sorting the food. Another day is for packing the 225 boxes of Thanksgiving food supplies, which is amazing to be a part of the fast-moving, well-organized assembly line. Then help is needed is for the distribution day. Look for the signup sheets in the gathering area in November to help be a part of this worthwhile local mission.
Instead of receiving a long list of items needed, as we have done in the past, we are requesting you bring only 2 items. But…we need LOTS of those 2 items!!!We are providing all 225 boxes of instant mashed potatoes and all 225 boxes of stuffing mix. This may sound like a big task, but knowing the generosity of our congregation over the years, we know we can do it!!
Each Sunday in October, bring with you instant mashed potato boxes and stuffing bags/boxes to the Gathering Area. Mission Commission will tally the amounts given each week and will have a poster with the total and how many more needed to reach our goal of 225.
So, between now and November 3rd,
let’s “STUFF” the Gathering Area!!

“Bible Stories for Grown Ups”
New Adult Education Offering Begins October 20th!
In Bible Stories for Grown-Ups: Reading Scripture with New Eyes, Pastor Josh Scott, (Lead Pastor at GracePointe Church in Nashville, TN) looks at six Bible stories and reveals new details and interpretations for an adult audience.
This six-week study, beginning Sunday October 20th, will consider Noah's Ark, the binding of Isaac, Jonah and the big fish, Jesus and Zacchaeus, Jesus healing a blind man, and the Parable of the Talents. Led by Pastor Todd and Luke Hardy and featuring small group discussions and time for questions, this study will provide new, additional, ways for us to understand these stories in today’s world.
We will meet in Room 206, beginning at 9:45 a.m., and end at 10:45 a.m. sharp.
“When you see how Josh opens up the six Bible stories in this book, you’ll be inspired to engage with the whole Bible in a whole new, grown-up way.” – Brian D. McLaren, author of Do I Stay Christian?
Come and read The Bible for the first time—again!
Everyone is welcome and we hope to see you there!
